One of the highlights of season 4 of Stranger Things was Eddie Munson (played by Joseph Quinn), who is getting a music-driven prequel book, as revealed by Entertainment Weekly. Titled Flight of Icarus, we will get a story that takes out the supernatural and horror elements and replace that tone with heavy metal and the character trying to make moves for a career in music.
The Stranger Things book will be written by Caitlin Schneiderhan, a staff writer for the Netflix flagship series. The story Schneiderhan will tell is set in 1984, two years before the events of season 4. It will follow the metalhead meeting Paige, a music producer giving him and his band, Corroded Coffin, a big opportunity to move the needle in their garage band’s career. The only problem is money, so he must go to his dad for a sketchy plan to make that much-needed cash.
Stranger Things prequel book tells a fun Eddie Munson story
The Netflix series has always had endearing characters from its adults to its teens. Season 4 introduced the metalhead as a new friend and the new Dungeon Master of the gang’s Dungeons & Dragons campaign. After enough time with the established cast, a newcomer can be a toss-up if fans will embrace them. People certainly did, as this underdog gets framed for the murder of a classmate (Grace Van Dien) that was done by the supernatural villain Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). It becomes a mission to help him stay safe from citizens and fellow classmates hunting him while defeating the latest baddie of the series.
Penguin Random House will publish the Stranger Things book Flight of Icarus on October 31. You can hold yourself over by rewatching season 4 to revisit Eddie’s story on Netflix.
Season 5 is being worked on. It will be the final season of the Netflix horror series.
