The final trailer for the second season of Stranger Things has finally dropped, and it looks pretty spooky. With the return of the show set to hit Netflix on October 27 (originally on Halloween), there’s bound to be a bunch of scary stuff like we saw in season 1.
The opening of the trailer shows Eleven on her own in the woods, grabbing the Eggo waffles left by Officer Jim Hopper at the end of the first season. It’s confirmed that she’s alive, not that it really was a question. She’s got superpowers; an evil slimeball like The Monster aka Demogorgon can’t get rid of her that easily. But in the final trailer, we see that The Monster has grown a little bit. Not to mention that it has a few extra arms, or legs, or whatever they are. Tentacles. That seems to fit. Either way, Eleven and her friends have their work cut out for them.
What I really liked from this trailer was the focus on Will Byers. His character was pretty much left to rot in the Upside Down throughout the majority of the first season. He is found and returned by the end of it all, but something else comes back with him. We saw him looking at himself in the mirror during the final 5 minutes of the season as a shadowy reflection of the Upside Down glimmered around him. It’ll be interesting to see how his time in the Upside Down has affected him, and how it all connects with the return of The Monster.
Some questions that the Stranger Things trailer leaves me pondering: Does Will have something to do with The Monster’s return directly? Will he be the key to destroying it? How does Eleven find herself back from the Upside Down? Which new characters will be the most important coming into the events of season 2? Sean Astin or Sadie Sink? How do you all like Eleven’s new hairdo? Will Steve’s “Lucille” make any sort of difference against The Monster? How have Eleven’s powers grown? Or, how have they been weakened by the events of the first season?
