Capcom has released footage of a new developer match for Street Fighter 6, featuring two of the biggest characters that will be playable when the game releases. The footage showcases a match between the big boy Zangief and newcomer Marisa, highlighting their unique fighting styles in Street Fighter 6. Zangief appears to have changed quite a bit, and the Drive mechanics seem to offer him a lot of options that he didn’t have in previous games.
The match starts off like normal, but since it is being played by seasoned developers, we can see what these characters can do on the highest level. Marisa has an insane amount of damage, while Zangief only needs one chance to get in, and once he does, he hits hard!
Street Fighter 6 Dev Match Shows Off Zangief And Marisa
While the focus of Street Fighter 6 has been on its competitive side, the game will also offer plenty of content for casual players as well. The World Tour mode will provide newcomers with a comprehensive understanding of the series and will be updated with new DLC characters. The mini mind games that players experienced in the closed betas show that the developers are really trying hard not to repeat the mistakes that made SFV bomb so hard at launch. Street Fighter 6 will launch with 18 characters, all of which have been revealed, and will get 4 more DLC characters down the road after the release.
Before the full reveal of the game’s roster, an internal leak not only showed every character that would be available at launch, but also the identities of the 4 DLC characters. Those leaks have proved accurate so far, so it seems the fan favorite Akuma will be making a comeback after the release of the full game. Other DLC characters are expected to be Ed, Rashid, and a newcomer, A.K.I.
Street Fighter 6 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide on June 2nd, 2023. Pre-orders for the game are currently available, with bonuses including exclusive colors for certain characters.
