CAPCOM is getting ready for the release of the latest iteration of its legendary fighting game franchise, Street Fighter 6, which is set to launch on PC and various gaming consoles in just under two months. However, according to recent reports on Twitter by a well-known Japanese streamer, it appears that players worldwide may not have to wait until then to get their hands on the game. Eiko Kano, who is often invited by CAPCOM for their CAPCOM TV shows, casually revealed that an open beta for Street Fighter 6 will be held before the end of the month, quite the leak to have been mentioned as an off-hand comment.
Although there has been no official confirmation from CAPCOM regarding the upcoming open beta test for Street Fighter 6, it is highly likely, considering that the publisher has only held two closed beta tests so far with a limited number of players. Since the game is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year, it is crucial for CAPCOM to conduct more tests to see how the game’s online infrastructure will hold up with a larger number of players simultaneously once the game is released.
Street Fighter 6 Open Beta To Be Held In April – Leak
The Street Fighter 6 open beta will provide players with the perfect opportunity to try out characters beyond the eight that were available in the closed beta tests. These new characters include Dee Jay, Marisa, Cammy, Manon, Zangief, and Lily, which CAPCOM has showcased extensively in the past few weeks. By allowing players to test these characters before the game’s official launch, CAPCOM can gather valuable feedback to improve the game’s overall experience.
It is quite possible that the open beta for Street Fighter 6 won’t be as open as one might expect. Meaning that everyone won’t be able to access the game for free. What seems more likely is that everyone who has preordered the game will be able to play it online over one weekend or so.
Street Fighter 6 is scheduled to be released on June 2nd, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
