A mother in Colorado claims a passing car flung a rock into her home, smashing a large hole in a window. The city had recently filled a pothole on her street with loose rocks, and she believes it was where the flying projectile came from. Plenty of online users are skeptical, but she does her best to provide all the evidence she can.
Reddit user Many_Engineering2143 shared the situation on /mildlyinfuriating, uploading photos of her shattered window, the pothole outside her home, and the rock that she believed caused the damage. “All I was thinking was, what if it hit my 5-year-old?!” she exclaimed worriedly. Unfortunately for her, dozens are not buying her story and strongly believe the rock came from elsewhere or the hole wasn’t caused by a rock at all.
The Majority of Commenters Don’t Believe a Car Driving Over a Loose Rock Caused Her Window’s Damage
“That looks like it was from a lawn mower or a weed eater. Hard to believe a speeding car caused that,” suggested a Redditor, with hundreds agreeing in upvotes and similar comments. “That’s right. Surely there is no way a 2-ton vehicle can generate enough force to push a 5g rock through a window,” agreed a second.
“It looks like a hole from a BB gun,” guesses another comment, with several others echoing the same. Despite all the pushback she was getting from the comment section, the mother was still determined to prove that a rock from the street indeed did the damage.
The mother shared an update to her first post, this time uploading security camera footage from her front door of the “very moment” the rock had struck her window. The sound of the impact and the stone’s drop could be heard before her husband stepped out to see what was going on.
“No lawn mowers or bullets, but city negligence, I think so,” the Many_Engineering2143 concluded in a comment. Regardless of where the rock came from, it’s still fortunate that no one was reportedly hurt in this rather unusual accident.
