Living at home is not always fun, and it’s certainly not always easy. When a parent has conflicting views from your own, it’s possible that you’ll find yourself clashing often. A New Jersey mom showed that her nitpicking takes things to an extreme. When her daughter recorded her recently, she showed just how insane it makes her when a few things are out of place around the house. If you’ve ever lived with a neat freak parent, you know just how annoying this can be.
Lex (@lexhavefun) posted a TikTok showing how ‘dramatic’ her mom can be when one little thing is out of place. She said her mom called her room ‘filthy’ right when she came through the door. She said, “Let’s see the damage” and went into her room so she could find out what she did wrong.
When in her bedroom, Lex says, “What a mess” and pans the camera around her bedroom, which is exquisitely clean. Nothing looks out of place, and her floor is completely clean and free of any clothing or items. Her mom angrily stomps into her bedroom and points at her, showing her each ‘mess’ she comes across. She points out a few clothing items sitting on a chest. She then points to her desk, which is filled with normal everyday items you would see on a work desk. There are books, papers, pencils, vitamins, and more – but it all looks normal.
Lex’s mom tells her she’s throwing everything away if she doesn’t clean it before the next day. She angrily points at Lex’s books and then handles her vitamins, shaking them and asking her why they’re on her desk. Is it not normal to keep your vitamins on your personal desk? She crashes out, repeating, “Why? Why? WHY?” to Lex. I would lose my mind if I had to spend one day in this woman’s house.
One commenter pointed out her mom’s nitpicky ways, “Oh dear. That’s a lot of energy. She needs to be able to focus on something other than her home.” Another person questioned, “Omg God forbid you have personal items on your desk?” Honestly, God forbid you just make your own room your personal space. This is one occasion where a parent needs to calm down and focus her energy elsewhere.
