Stubborn Airplane Passengers in San Francisco Ignore Fire Inside the Plane to Get Their Bags, ‘I Will Never Understand This Much of a Selfish Mindset’

Not the right priorities

Often, we think that when an emergency ensues, people would do the right thing and get away from the danger. Well, not all people think like that. Recently, a laptop battery inside an airplane in San Francisco, California, caught on fire. The passengers, instead of getting out of the plane, decided to take their sweet time returning for their belongings. Even if the airline’s staff was trying to get people to safety, every single person inside the airplane ignored the warnings and indications.

The event happened inside an American Airlines airplane in San Francisco, where a laptop battery caught on fire. While it might not be the largest fire, it is still a hazard for everyone inside. Normally, people would run away from the danger, get to safety, and let the staff control the situation. Well, these people did the exact opposite of that.

As you can see in the video, the staff starts shouting, “Move forward. Do not take your bags.” However, some people are not making a big deal out of what’s going on. One person says, “It was a battery or whatever.” To which the staff replies, “That’s okay, you still have to evacuate.” Not long after, one person screams, “Leave your f*cking bags!” The whole plane goes silent for a split second to look at the person. Yet, the people continue to ignore the warning, with some stubborn passengers saying, “Chill.”

After a while, you can hear who we assume is the pilot, talking through the intercom and saying, “Don’t get your things. Move.” Still, people remain there waiting to get their bags until a ray of wisdom illuminates the stubborn passengers and they finally decide to step out of the airplane.

While the video lasts roughly three minutes, it is alarming that people waited so long to leave the plane. Anything can go wrong in a matter of seconds, and some passengers didn’t understand this.

As expected, many people reacted to this facepalm-inducing situation.

“Guys, chill,” says the man blocking people from exiting a confined space in an active lithium fire,” One Reddit user said.

“FFS, this is so f*cking infuriating to watch. I will never understand this much of a selfish mindset,” Another user commented.

Fortunately, no one got harmed during the fire, as it seems it was contained. However, it is shocking to see people care more for their belongings than for their lives. In any case, we hope this serves as a lesson if a situation like this occurs again, but let’s face it: humans don’t learn that quickly.
