Now that we are approaching 2025, the early 2000s feels so incredibly long ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if a good chunk of our viewership comes from folks who were born then. However, anyone who actually lived through the early 2000s will tell you that it is exactly that, a completely different time. One TikTok user made an early 2000s discovery that many beer and seltzer-drinking students back then likely might recognize.
TikTok user justannottitiktokguy posted what appears to be a shared dorm room or dorm space at a college. The video pans up from the dirty carpet and shows a mural of seltzer boxes taped to a bartop. For even further context, the mural included a ton of White Claw and Truly boxes.
As he approaches the cardboard wall, he peels at the tape until he is able to pull it aside. Then, underneath, you can see another mural of taped together alcoholic beverage boxes. The kicker is that they are the kind that college students were drinking back in 2008. The boxes included those for Keystone Light, Natural Ice, and a ton of Bud and Coors Light.
Commentators flooded the replies with comparisons and comments, with many finding the act to be outright criminal.
Personally, I think it was kept behind the new one intentionally. Sort of to remind new residents about the others who lived there before them. I can imagine that when the next set of college students move in, a new mural will be started with whatever drinks are popular. Ideally, however, they would have better taste than in seltzers.
