Suffer the Night is a new first-person survival horror game released on PC and the Steam store today. Created by indie developer Tainted Pact and published by Assemble Entertainment, the game seems as if it’s going to be a fresh take on the horror genre. With a creepy launch trailer accompanying the release, horror fans should keep their eyes on this new take.
What Is Suffer The Night
Suffer the Night stars Stacey Linden, a horror illustrator who is sent a mysterious floppy disk. After booting the disk, she discovers a creepy text-based adventure game and is soon visited by a mysterious stranger urging her to keep playing. Soon after, elements of the game start leaking into reality, sending Stacey into a life-or-death situation. So far, this seems like a fresh and original concept. With this story, the new Steam game could take many interesting directions and already has an interesting computer game aesthetic.
From these first looks, Suffer the Night seems to have both action and puzzle elements for gameplay. Players must play a text-based horror game while keeping a mysterious entity at bay. At the same time, certain sections will require the player to use various weapons and fight through horror scenarios.
The Game Blends Horror And Nostalgia
The game takes an interesting approach of including both text-based horrors with first-person survival horror as well. Specifically, Suffer the Night will combine the chilling atmosphere of playing the text adventure with the intense horror of survival. This concept seems to be extremely unique in the world of indie horror, and this new Steam game will bring both nostalgia and fear to those who decide to play.
Suffer the Night is available now on PC. Players looking to try the game out can play the first chapter on Steam for free. Currently, the game is on sale for $9.99 but will cost $12.49 past April 24th.
