Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s Prices Are Going Downhill

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League hit stores last month, and the results were…lackluster, to say the least. Rocksteady, who were publishing their first big title since 2015, were surely hoping for a much warmer reception than the one they got. Critics, who have called the game repetitive and mediocre, have agreed that Kill the Justice League failed to live up not only to its own hype, but also the pedigree set by Rocksteady‘s much better performance with Batman: Arkham Knight. Now, WB Games is trying to pull in more customers by putting the game’s price on the chopping block, but is this just the start of a downhill trend?

When they released Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady was likely aiming for another big hit like Batman: Arkham Knight, which had critics calling it revolutionary for the superhero genre and the best game in its generation when it first came out. Unfortunately for them, their return to the DC Universe was soured with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a live-service shooter where reviews say there’s “no joy and even less charm” to be found in Metropolis, calling the gameplay itself a “miserable grind” that left even the most optimistic DC fan hollow.

WB Admits Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League Was a Failure

In a recent financial report, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels reported that Kill the Justice League has “fallen short of [their] expectations” in sales. In an attempt to bring in new customers, WB Games has officially cut the price of the game from $69.99 to $49.99 on Amazon, which doesn’t make the game “cheap” by most standards but it does give the game’s publishers a greater chance at boosting their sales numbers. Better yet, the new price seems to be a permanent change rather than a temporary discount, but that raises a new question: is this really a new chance at recovering Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s reputation, or the beginning of a downhill slide into a graveyard full of live-service games?

Ultimately, there’s no way to tell for sure where Rocksteady and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League are headed. Maybe the new price cut will have some affect, but the only way to say for sure is to wait and see.
