Sports and gambling can often feel almost synonymous at this point, and the recent Super Bowl LX in California is no exception. Even the length of the National Anthem of the US is an opportunity for gamblers to bet on. While many put their trust in their intuition for such a bet, a TikTok user wanted to ensure his victory, so he spied on the anthem rehearsal for added confidence. It worked, and he won his bet.
TikToker Cadeon Booth is the gambler in question, and he recently went to San Francisco, California, to camp in the National Anthem rehearsal site for Super Bowl XL. Booth even brought a stopwatch and timed the rehearsals, clocking the anthem at an average of 1 minute and 44 seconds or 104 seconds. Using this information, Booth placed his bet on Polymarket that the anthem would be under 117.5 seconds, and of course, he won.
It’s not clear how much exactly Booth won or how much he placed on the bet, but the TikTok user cleverly uploaded the trick on February 11 only after Super Bowl LX was done. However, given how Booth took the effort to camp outside the rehearsal site and even purchased plane tickets to San Francisco, you can probably take a decent guess at how much he expected to win.
Some gamblers are not happy with Booth’s trick
Booth’s trick video has since gone viral with millions of views combined from multiple social media platforms. Commenters have praised him for being smart and using publicly available information to ensure that the odds on his bet are the best they can be. As one viewer put it, “Bro you could’ve uploaded this before the damn Super Bowl!!!!!” though that might cause Polymarket authorities to react negatively.
“Brilliant! Skip College, head straight to Wall Street 👊🏾,” advises another commenter, praising Booth for his due diligence in ensuring his gamble paid off. Still, some people were not exactly fond of the method and even accused Booth, “Bro, this is insider trading 💀,” while another even went as far as calling it, “Why would you post this this is a crime.”
Indeed, outside of Booth’s TikTok account, specifically in X reposts, the video went viral with accusations of “insider trading.” Another commenter doubled down, claiming, “people recording their crimes is so stupid.” For the record, what Booth did is a bit of a gray area, and while it doesn’t exactly violate any crime, it’s not clear how Polymarket will react to the gambling trick.
Others have defended Booth, arguing that, “If the sportsbooks are dumb enough to let people stand outside and listen to the rehearsal, they deserve to lose the money,” with another joking that “Thats outsider trading.” For the record, placing bets based on rehearsals might not be 100 percent reliable, as they’re rehearsals for a reason, and now that the cat’s out of the bag, there’s a chance that the next Super Bowl bets will have countermeasures.
