Super Mario RPG Remake is coming fast and has a bevy of interesting new gameplay features for fans to explore. Among the cherished classics of the past, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars stands out as not only a great Mario game but one of the best RPGs out there.ย  Now, decades later, the announcement of a remake looks to bring the turn-based fun back to the Nintendo community.

With the announcement of the Super Mario RPG remake, the gaming community is abuzz with speculation and excitement. While details about the remake are still relatively scarce, several aspects have been confirmed or teased, giving fans plenty to look forward to. First up is triple team attacks, which will utilize three party members to execute one big move on your enemies. This trope has been seen in RPGs before, and a version of it is used in the recent and fantastic Sea of Stars.

In terms of gameplay, theย Super Mario RPG Remakeย will likely aim to strike a balance between honoring the classic mechanics and incorporating modern RPG elements. Possibly the most exciting feature is the timed button presses that will increase damage. Encouraging interaction during turn-based games is key in keeping the play engaged throughout. The timed button press has been utilized in recent RPGs, and Super Mario RPG Remake is smartly doing the same.

The biggest feature of the trailer is that we will be able to ask bosses for a rematch. After you’ve completed the game, you can challenge bosses for a rematch for more challenging fights that will have bosses unleashing entire new attack strategies against you. It’s a clever way to introduce super bosses into a game that had one of the more famous RPG super bosses in its original iteration.

Nintendo is having quite the 2023, with Super Mario Bros Wonder coming soon and the already released Tears of the Kingdom in the spring. This will add to what is looking to be a fantastic swan song for the Nintendo Switch.

We won’t be waiting for this one very long as it is set to release on November 17th, 2023, for Nintendo Switch.
