Although DC has struggled to keep up with their rivals in the juggernaut that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they have put together a successful line of TV shows over the past few years. Gotham has been a bit up and down, but Preacher has been renewed for a second season. Arrow and The Flash have done very well, and Supergirl also has a second season on the way. Season 2 will bring a familiar Kryptonian into the mix, and we now have our first image of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. Here he is as he will appear on Supergirl:

Supergirl looking sharp.
Looking sharp.

The look is very similar to the outfit we saw in Batman vs. Superman. At the show’s Comic-Con panel, several tidbits about what to expect in Season 2 were revealed. Superman will reportedly arrive in the very first episode, and some of the dramatic tension of the second season will involve Superman butting heads with his cousin. Apparently he and Supergirl will be at odds over the philosophical differences of what it means to be super-powered on Earth. The second season of Supergirl will also feature crossovers with other DC shows. The worlds of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow will all come together to make up much of Season 2. Finally, Lynda Carter, who played the title role on the 1970’s TV show Wonder Woman, will appear as the President of the United States.

Hoechlin is probably most recognizable from his recurring role on the MTV series Teen Wolf. He also had a recurring role on 7th Heaven, and will appear in the upcoming sequels to Fifty Shades of Grey. The second season of Supergirl will premiere on October 10th. It has changed networks from CBS to The CW.

Excited to see Superman show up on Supergirl? Do you think Tyler Hoechlin is a good fit for the role? Let us know in the comments below.
