Supergirl Rebirth shakes up the girl of steel’s status quo
As DC’s Rebirth event continues to roll forward, Kara Zor-El finds her life is changing. The newly revealed preview of Supergirl Rebirth sees Kara several months after her cousin’s death. Kara has joined the DEO to fully restore her powers while adjusting to a new secret identity; Kara Danvers.

Good stuff; almost like they’re getting inspiration from somewhere…
Fans of the Supergirl tv series will probably find this a bit familiar. DC is clearly using Supergirl Rebirth as a chance to borrow from the live action series. Probably a smart move given that the series is how a lot of new fans get introduced to the character.
Supergirl Rebirth is also including the return of the girl of steel’s deadliest enemies; the New 52 Cyborg Superman. As a result, we’ll be seeing Kara taking on phantoms of Krypton to protect her new homeworld. Furthermore, Supergirl has returned to her classic long-haired look. This appears to show that she has moved beyond the short-haired angry teenager she started out as. This seems like more proof that DC Rebirth is trying to bring optimism back to the DCU.
Super Rebirth #1 hits shelves August 17 and Supergirl #1 follows September 7.
