Supply Pod by Outer Places is a subscription box “where science meets science fiction” and it comes out every three months.  I love this box because it’s education and fun all rolled into one!

This could be used as a fun education thing to do in your spare time or, if you homeschool, this makes for a great science/technology supplement as it contains a do-it-yourself project in every box. This spring 2017 box focused on Robotics.

Cost:  $39.99/every 3 months plus shipping and handling

Theme: Robotics

What comes in the box?:  Each box usually contains a do-it-yourself science kit relevant to the theme, an exclusive t-shirt, techy gadgets, mystery items, Variant-Cover Comics and more.

Let’s dive right in and see what came in this box full of robotics!

History of Robots

Each box typically comes with a book that is full of information about the theme.  This book had tons of fun and useful information about robotics including a short history of robots.

I really like this shirt! I didn’t know much about robotics until I was asked to be a judge in a Lego Robotic competition a couple of years ago.  Now, it truly fascinates me and makes me want to get our 8-year-old involved.

This book, Elon Musk and the Quest for a Fantastic Future – Young Readers’ Edition, was also included in the box.  This book is an autobiography of Elon Musk but in a young readers edition.  Apparently, the version for adults was a hit!

Here is your science project, a Tin Can Robot.  How fun is that?

This was another little robots that AWIKA! Windup/Creature Mechanique.  Again, this box is just full of fun things to do and learn at the same time!

The final item in this box is a Nano Hexbug.  This is something my older brother would have put in my room when we were growing up.  You see this walking around your floor in the corner of your eye, you’re going to jump.  Especially if you don’t like bugs!

This box was so much fun and full of great educational items.  If you’ve been following our previous Supply Pod reviews, you may have noticed a couple of changes.  First, they moved from a bi-monthly format to a quarterly subscription box.  They are also making it more science oriented which is great if you’re using this as an education tool.  And, there will be a themed booklet with the box.  These are some positive changes and I can’t wait to see what they come out with next!

I am the wife of a real nerd who has developed some nerd-like tendencies along the way. I am a mom of two teenagers who is still trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up! I spend my days working at the local community & technical college as a Director of Business & Industry training. At night and on weekends, I love spending time with family, binge-watching tv series, playing video games with the kids, graphic design, and, yes, reviewing products. I have my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Communication and contemplating a Doctorate…I consider myself a lifetime learner!
