Sydney Sweeney has broken her silence regarding her Dr. Squatch bathwater soap drama. In her latest interview, the actress opened up about her limited edition soap bars, ones made from water she actually bathed in.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal Magazine this week, Sydney refused to discuss her even bigger American Eagle campaign mess, but she did speak out over the soap. Earlier this year, The White Lotus star’s soap bars sold out within minutes. They were later resold on platform Ebay for $2,000 per bar. Sydney, who also spoke out about keeping things under control when it comes to her endorsement campaigns, stated that she felt most of the backlash came from women. The comments on Sydney’s IG alone are proof of how much hate she was subject to in the wake of her soap drama. Users called the 27-year-old a “pick me girl,” with countless likes left to comments saying that she’d taken “feminism back” a hundred years via her collaboration.

“It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting. They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi’s bathwater,” Sydney revealed.
Sydney made June headlines as resale prices for her bathwater soap rose on Ebay. “When your fans start asking for your bathwater, you can either ignore it, or turn it into a bar of Dr Squatch soap,” Sweeney had stated in her ad. Users accused her of playing right into the patriarchy, with remarks to posts on her Instagram long after the ad still dragging her out over it.
Refusing To Address American Eagle Jeans Campaign
On July 31, Sydney went viral with her “Sydney has good jeans” campaign for clothing brand American Eagle. The ad, which sparked global backlash big enough to garner a comment from the White House, saw Sydney saying that she has “good genes.” The lack of inclusivity as the white, blonde celebrity spoke of being genetically blessed led to outrage and even accusations of white supremacy.
American Eagle didn’t back down in its statement defending the campaign. Sydney, however, refused to discuss the matter when prompted by WSJ magazine.
“We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone,” was the statement from American Eagle, a brand once also fronted by fellow blonde star, Olivia Dunne.
