The 2020s have birthed a new era of fashion, but Immaculate star Sydney Sweeney isn’t as hasty to wish away the 2010s. A decade ago, ruffles were all the rage. No one quite knows why, but every piece of clothing featured ruffles. They were “in” as the kids say.
And Sweeney appears to have singlehandedly revived a long-forgotten trend with stunning see-through lace.
Sweeney Was Out and About Promoting ‘Immaculate’
On Wednesday, Sweeney attended 92NY in New York City to discuss her new horror film Immaculate with host of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Josh Horowitz. She dressed up for the occasion, sporting a slimming black dress complete with a lace midriff and flowing ruffles at the hips. She finished off the look with opaque tights, black heels, and a shimmering collection of silver jewelry.

Earlier that day, she appeared on The View almost entirely swimming in leather from head to toe. Her black leather midi-length dress featured a ribbed knit midsection and matching leather pointy-toe boots.
Sweeney was out and about promoting her new psychological horror film Immaculate, directed by Michael Mohan. The story follows Cecilia (Sweeney), a young woman of devout faith, who is invited to practice her religion at an Italian convent. But she soon comes to realize that this convent harbors sinister secrets and her very life is threatened by her involvement.
The cast includes Álvaro Morte (Money Heist), Benedetta Porcaroli (Baby), Dora Romano (Bang Bang Baby), Giorgio Colangeli (Castelrotto), and Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus).
Critics are calling it Sweeney’s “ballsiest” movie yet, saying Immaculate “digs into the way organized religion constrains, punishes, silences, bullies, vilifies and oppresses women and then unleashes glorious fury. Fearless, cathartic, bloody, beautifully sacrilegious fury.”
