System Shock, for the uninitiated, is a classic Sci-Fi FPS/RPG hybrid that was released way back in the early days of computer gaming in 1994. It released to incredible praise at the time and has since gone down in history as one of the most influential video games of all time. It has even been cited as direct inspiration for the likes of Deus Ex and the Bioshock series. Now, it is being re-released on Steam, a platform it has been missing from all this time. Bundled with the game is the new System Shock: Enhanced Edition which carries with it several enhancements and improvements over the original game. Night Dive Studios, the creators of the beloved classic, have also included System Shock: Classic, a completely unaltered copy of the original game.

“With System Shock: Enhanced Edition, we’ve implemented game-changing improvements, including mouselook, widescreen, and a high-resolution display mode.” says Stephen Kick, CEO of Night Dive Studios. “The classic game has never been more accessible.”

So, if you never got the opportunity to play this pearl, now is your best chance. Also, for a limited time, now through November 1, 2015, you can purchase the game on Steam at a discount. Regularly priced at $9.99, you can pick it up for a few bucks less at $7.99 if you hurry.

Justin cut his teeth on Pitfall! and Yars' Revenge way back on the Atari 2600. Since, he has followed the generations through to the present. Now, you can most often find him on his PS4, but he is occasionally spotted on the Xbox One as well; he's kind of like the Sasquatch of Xbox One. Follow him on Facebook, he's incredibly boring!
