A woman in Lakewood, California, is searching for answers after footage from her Ring doorbell camera appeared to show an Amazon delivery driver picking up her cat and walking away with it. The driver arrived during the evening hours on Thursday, December 11, to drop off a package at her home and seemed to notice the cat sitting on the porch nearby.
Rather than leaving immediately after completing the delivery, the driver lingers, steps closer to the animal, and appears to observe it for several seconds. Moments later, he bends down, picks up the cat, and walks away from the porch, heading for his car.
The Driver Has Still Not Been Found
Because it was already dark outside, the driver’s face is not clearly visible in the footage. It is also difficult to determine from the video whether the cat was being carried securely or handled roughly, though many viewers said the way the animal was lifted looked concerning.
The owner, who uploaded the video to TikTok, likely became aware of what had happened after reviewing her doorbell footage. She wrote in the caption that she has since been working with both Amazon and local law enforcement in an effort to locate her cat and bring it home safely.
She also claimed that Amazon has identified the delivery driver involved in the incident but has not yet been able to make contact with them. As of now, it remains unclear why the driver picked up the cat or where the animal was taken.
What People Are Saying on TikTok
Many people expressed concern for the cat’s safety, particularly because of how the driver appeared to handle the animal. One person wrote, “Omg he was not nice to that cat! He picked it up terribly!” Another commented that the way he was holding the cat did not look like he had “good intentions.” Someone else said the video infuriated them “beyond what would be considered healthy,” while another admitted, “I’m losing faith in humanity.”
However, a few others questioned whether the situation may have been misunderstood, with one commenter asking, “Maybe he thought she was a stray? Why’s she outside anyway?” Another even took a more critical stance toward the owner, writing, “If it’s your cat then leave it inside your house, outdoor cats are basically free for anyone to take.”
