This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

In Tales of Arise, players trying to craft the Gale Wing sword for Alphen will need to acquire Beast Mane. The Gale Wing is a potent blade powered by wind astral energy. Its recipe consists of a Razor-Tipped Feather, two Beast Manes, and eight Hard Bones. According to the beast codex, the Beast Mane is a rare material that can be dropped from Alpha Withered Wolves. On the other hand, Tales of Arise players can also obtain this sturdy resource from an ambush encounter in a frigid forested area within the game.

(Updated on July 26, 2024 – Fact-checked, fixed inconsistencies, and clarified which enemy drops the material).

How to Get Beast Mane Fast in Tales of Arise

To find Beast Mane fast in Tales of Arise, players will need to enter the snowy Rudhir Forest. The enemy you’re looking for is the Ice Wolf Leader, who drops the aforementioned material. You could also try defeating Alpha Withered Wolves, but since they don’t have a weakness, the grinding will take longer, which is why we’re sending you to Rudhir Forest.

The wolf encounter will occur in a circular area before the final stretch of Rudhir Forest’s winding path. Before facing the Ice Wolf Leader and its three Ice Wolves, the player has the opportunity to replenish all their party’s HP and CP. A merchant also sits before the mini-arena, so be sure to stock on any healing items or necessary potions. The easiest way to defeat this foe is by spamming fire abilities on it. You can use Alphen’s Blazing Sword and Shionne’s Burning Strike.

After slaying the mini-boss and its icy minions, the player will be rewarded with Beast Manes, a Hard Bone, and a Sharp Fang. Take the manes to a forge, along with the other necessary materials to craft the Gale Wing. Initially, this might not seem like the best weapon in the game, but it is quite useful. If you take it to Elde Menancia, the wind attribute will do wonders. You might have to replace it as you progress through the main story, but it is a blade worth crafting.
