Recently, Mayfield was able to open up about his marriage struggles. The NFL star and his wife, Emily Mayfield, have been married since 2019. The two also share one daughter together, named Kova Jade Mayfield. However, the baby is still a fairly new addition to the family. With Kova only being around 10 months old, the stress of first-time parenthood is most likely still hanging around a little.
According to The Sun, over the weekend, Baker Mayfield was able to open up about his crazy life, including the less-than-satisfactory parts. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ QB1 stated that his career was taken down to the studs. However, it allowed Baker to realize that he is more than just an NFL player. The 29-year-old continued on by saying that there is so much more than football. However, Mayfield also explained that he and Emily were having difficulties conceiving a child together. Eventually, Baker explained his hectic life as “constant work.”
Baker Mayfield Opens up About Life Outside the NFL
Mayfield continued to go into detail regarding how he reinvented himself. During that time, Baker struggled on the football field. Coming off a serious injury with the Cleveland Browns, on top of getting traded from the team that drafted him, was probably a lot to take in at once. However, after the trade, Baker would bounce around a few teams before finally sticking to Tampa Bay. Luckily for him, the Bucs were in need of a new starting quarterback after Tom Brady retired again.
Baker Mayfield really hit his stride in the NFL in 2023. During the 2024 offseason, Baker would sign a three-year contract extension to stay in Tampa Bay. The deal was worth $100 million, with $50 million guaranteed. Mayfield has helped the Bucs reach the playoffs for the past two seasons now. Baker also explains that he and Emily have “found the way back” to the life they have always wanted.
Baker Mayfield and his Buccaneers are set for another shot at a deep playoff run, as the 2025-25 NFL season is still some time away. However, will Mayfield be enough to get the job done?
