In the days leading up to Taylor Swift’s album drop, the singer had been living carefree. Swift and Spotify seemed to have collaborated on an activation at the Grove Mall in Los Angeles. The exhibition looks like a makeshift library where fans can hunt for some “easter eggs.” Fans can find books that contain yet-to-be-heard lyrics from The Tortured Poets Department. This allows fans to see where Swift’s head was at while writing these songs.
The books read, “EVEN STATUES CRUMBLE IF THEY’RE MADE TO WAIT.” Another says, “My muses, acquired like bruises / My talimans and charms.” According to The Daily Beast, it should read “talismans.” A source has reached out to Spotify; however, no comment was made on the misspelling.
Taylor Swift Loves a Dramatic Album Launch
During the pandemic, Taylor Swift basically defined music in 2020. The multi-Grammy Award winner did this by announcing a surprise album in July of that year. Folklore had a midnight release that same day. Swift’s strategy was much simpler for that album, though.
“I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into,” she wrote on Twitter, going on to list her collaborators.
However, it was more than enough effort for Swift, and fans were obsessed. Folklore moved 846,000 units in the United States and opened at Number 1. Although, compared to other albums, The Tortured Poets Department has a much more complicated release. Since it was a planned release, it didn’t have the shock factor like Folklore.
On the other hand, Taylor Swift does not need that shock factor, as her dedication and love for music are enough to keep fans coming back for more. Travis Kelce may also have been a huge part of all of this. The Athlete just stated on his New Heights podcast that he is in love with music. Swift is definitely just enjoying all the chaos around her latest album release.
