Team17, the publisher of such greats as the Overcooked and Worms series, presented a reel of announcements and updates regarding its upcoming projects at the Future Games Show. You can find the slew of new announcements over on the Team17 YouTube channel, or look here for the recap.
Team17’s 2022 Games Lineup and Beyond
Kicking things off right, Team17 showcased two fresh games during the Future Games Show. The main title shown off specifically for the event was Sunday Gold, an upcoming narrative adventure game set in dystopian 2070s London. As part of a group of rag-tag criminals, it’ll be your goal (or perhaps gold, in this case) to expose the dark underbelly of a massive corporation, profiting off some rather illicit dealings with vicious dogs. The other major game announcement was Killer Frequency, a rather spooky comedy game that acts as Team17’s first foray into VR-based video games and should prove quite fun.
As for the currently known lineup of titles, Team17 showed off some new and known details regarding their upcoming projects. A personal favorite announcement of mine is The Unliving, a 2D roguelike action RPG in the same vein as the Overlord series, a sleeper hit. The game is set for an October 31 release date, and you can be sure we’ll cover the game when it releases. The other major detail-driven announcement comes from Autopsy Simulator, which revealed more footage of the rather gruesome dealings you can get up to while trying to uncover the cause of death of several deceased folks.
Things ended off with a sizzle reel of titles we’re already aware of, but are still plenty deserving of your attention. These include Thymesia, which is set for an August release, Batora: Lost Haven, which blasts off to major platforms this Autumn, The Knight Witch, shooting its way onto all major platforms within the same release window, and Ship of Fools, a co-op adventure which has been announced for consoles today alongside a release later this year. As a bonus, Steam demos for Sweet Transit and Trepang2 (if you’re a fan of shooters, please try the latter) will be available as part of the Steam Next Fest event!
All around, Team17 is looking to provide some incredible games for the remainder of the year. Which game are you most excited about? Did any indies catch your eye throughout the rest of the Future Games Show? Let me know!
