It’s getting to the point where having Telltale do a game for you is a sign you’ve hit it big. Mega franchises such as Game of Thrones and Batman have all undergone the TT treatment. Telltale Batman is currently wowing fans and critics alike. This is due to smooth gameplay and creating storytelling that pulls you in.
Marvel has clearly taken note of the success DC is having with Telltale Games. As a result, we now have this trailer of Telltale’s next project: Guardians of the Galaxy.

Of course, this teaser gives nothing away regarding gameplay or storyline, yet we can speculate. The movie version of Guardians is the most well known, therefore the game will likely be based on it. Game of Thrones and Walking Dead followed characters outside the main plot. However, the big T is likely to go the Batman route and focus on the main characters in their own continuity.
This is backed up by the statement given by Telltale’s CEO:
“In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017.”
The scope of GoG’s setting means that this new offering could outstrip their Batman setting. Guardians will be digitally arriving on consoles, PC, and mobile sometime next year.
As always, The Nerd Stash will keep you up to date as more information is revealed.
