There have been a lot of changes in the government lately, and most of them have suffered backlash from citizens. Yet, while some changes have been questionable, a few are actually aimed at helping people, and most states have been looking to improve in some areas. However, it seems that Tennessee is falling behind on one particular matter. Recently, Republicans announced that they would block medical marijuana changes even if there is federal rescheduling, and all Tennesseeans are heartbroken about it.
The original article comes from WATE 6, which found its way to the Tennessee subreddit. In it, you can see how the Republicans announced that they would block all automatic medical marijuana law changes, even if there is any federal rescheduling involved. Naturally, this shocked a lot of people, as it seems all other states are trying to be more loose and understanding when it comes to medical marijuana, but not Tennessee.
For the unaware, and according to the above article, the new law on medical marijuana will require Tennessee lawmakers to pass bills before any changes take effect, regardless of what federal law says. So, if there were to be a federal rescheduling of marijuana, Tennessee Republicans would automatically block it.
Several people were against this and felt ashamed, especially since Senator Ferrell Haile said, “They don’t want this to become the Wild West.“
Tennessee Residents Outraged With What Republicans Are Doing
After reading what Republicans are doing in the state, almost every Redditor who saw the post was angry and started claiming the government was working against its citizens, and not the other way around.
“Tennessee legislators really hate Tennesseans.“
“Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, etc., all are enacting medical or recreational marijuana; it’s insane that those states even see its benefits, but Tennessee is really wanting to ruin all the growth.“
However, several other Redditors started blaming Republicans directly, who they believe are the ones affecting the state negatively.
“Imagine being a Republican and seeing how the people you voted for spend your time and tax money. Such losers.“
“Republicans should never be allowed to hold any power ever again.“
In the end, many residents believe that this is a bad decision, especially when other states have been trying to be more loose with marijuana restrictions. They also claim that several other states that wouldn’t normally accept these changes are doing their best to improve, leaving Tennessee way behind.
