A mother in Tennessee shared a TikTok video claiming her daughter was humiliated by a teacher over her outfit during the school day. According to the mother, the teacher criticized the girl’s shorts and allegedly made comments in front of her classmates. The video has drawn attention online as viewers reacted to the claims described in the post.
The video was posted on TikTok by Courtney Cabrera, who regularly shares family-related content. The clip has since gained traction, receiving close to 250,000 views and more than 34,000 likes.
In the video, Cabrera describes an incident she says happened at her daughter Andy’s school. According to her account, Andy arrived wearing shorts and a sweatshirt when a teacher allegedly made comments about her clothing.
“[She was] walking into school in the morning, and this teacher opens the door for her and holds her open, and made a comment about her shorts. Like a ‘haha.’ […] Never asked her to change,” she said.
Courtney said that, hours later, two teachers, including the one mentioned above, entered Andy’s class and asked her to stand up. Allegedly, they performed a see-through test on Andy’s shorts in front of the entire class.
“And then proceeds to tell her she looks like she’s wearing lingerie,” the Tennessee mother said. Then, according to her, the teacher told the class, “Don’t worry, guys. It’s just Andy’s shorts. Let this be a lesson to you to not have your butt cheeks hanging out.”
Principal Finds Out, Reactions
Cabrera also claimed that Andy was taken to the bathroom and asked to change into what she described as “men’s extra large sweatpants.” The teachers, according to Courtney, entered the bathroom with her and then escorted her all the way back to the classroom. All the while, Andy was sobbing, Courtney said.
Following the incident, Courtney messaged the teacher, who, according to her, ignored her and talked to the school principal. According to Cabrera, the principal responded after learning about the incident and told her he was “mortified” by the alleged comments.
The video sparked reactions online.
Many viewers bashed the teacher’s alleged actions, with one writing, “Why are we humiliating children?” Others empathized with Andy, with another user commenting, “I’d cry if someone did that to me as an adult. That’s not okay.”
Some viewers believed the whole situation could have been averted if schools had uniforms. One user wrote, “It was so easy growing up, just popped on my uniform and off to school.” Finally, someone was thankful that they could avoid situations like these, with one user saying, “I am not nice. I homeschool for the protection of others.”
Given how these sorts of stories can cause a reaction, it is no wonder Courtney’s clip went viral. Parents, as well, empathized with Andy’s story. They would want to spare their children from something similar happening to them.
