It’s not easy being a car repo man. Not only do you have to endure hostile confrontations, but some often work alone, making them vulnerable to abuse and danger. One Tennessee tow truck driver found this out the hard way, when he attempted to retrieve a vehicle, but was run over by it in the process. Be warned that some viewers may find the following footage distressing.
Opening in a sunny parking lot, the clip centers on a Tennessee company’s King Pac Towing truck, as revealed by the black and white logo on the side of the vehicle. It appears that the footage is being recorded by the owner of the tow truck, as you can see him uncoupling the towing cables at the beginning and placing the camera down to record himself towing the vehicle, likely for his safety.
You can hear the tow truck driver repeat the words, “Repo. Repo.” before a woman off camera begins chatting to him, though it’s difficult to work out what is being said as the audio quality is quite poor. One thing that is easy to make out is the tow truck driver saying, “You have a good one, sweetheart.” as he steps onto the back of the tow truck. After putting on a pair of black gloves, the repo man drags the chains towards a red vehicle, and it’s at this point where you can see another man, wearing a green t-shirt, run into the frame and hop into the red car that’s about to be repoed.
Meanwhile, the repot man gets down and lays on his back, just behind the front tyre, to hook up the chains to drag the vehicle away. As he’s doing so, however, the red car suddenly reverses back a few metres, running over the repot man beneath. “Argh! F*****k! Oh my god! You ran over my f***ing head! You gonna get sued, boy! You going to f***ing jail! Oh my god! You’re going to jail!” the repot man yells as he’s rolling around in pain on the ground, before standing up and heading over to grab the camera from off the back of his tow truck.
The shocking footage has garnered a lot of attention online, as reactions came in condemning the lack of safety shown by the repot man. Over on Reddit, one user commented, “There’s no way I would’ve hopped under the car like that” with another adding, “Yeah I feel bad for the guy but that was pretty stupid“. A third netizen wrote, “Exactly, just let the dude go if hes gonna take it. Why try and hook it up when the owner has already hopped in the car. My life isn’t worth this shit lol.”
So far, it’s unclear whether the police were called to the scene, though it’s very likely that the repot man will press charges against the driver behind the wheel for his reckless actions.
