A woman in Tennessee revealed that she had tested positive for Lyme disease. Despite this, she accused a doctor of refusing to diagnose her with the disease, even saying that he completely ignored the test results.
The woman is Nnenna Stella, and she shared her story on TikTok. Her content features her sharing her thoughts on a variety of topics, but her latest clip quickly became viral. It garnered 234,800 views, 40,600 likes, and more than 1,000 comments.
The Tennessee woman detailed that she had tested positive for Lyme disease earlier that month. She was referred to a specialist, who, according to her, didn’t look at her labs and told her she didn’t have the disease because it is “not endemic in this state.”
Nnenna explained that she had found a tick on her bed from one of her pets, but the specialist wouldn’t budge. She insisted that she needed to be diagnosed because she was days away from having surgery. Therefore, a bacterial infection could be fatal if left untreated.
“Well, I can prescribe you 28 days of antibiotics,” the specialist said, according to Nnenna.
She was shocked to hear the specialist. After all, he had told her she didn’t have Lyme disease, but he, somehow, was willing to prescribe her “very strong antibiotics.” Eventually, she refused the medication.
Calling The Hospital
Back at home, Nnenna said that she found Lyme disease and the tick that transmits it on the state’s health department website. The state health department later called her, asking for details about how she contracted the disease and to do some tracking. Her positive test had alerted them.
Finally, the Tennessee woman contacted her hospital and spoke with patient relations. After explaining her situation, she was told that they couldn’t do anything else for her since she refused the medication the specialist offered her.
“I don’t understand. I feel like I’m going crazy,” Nnenna said.
Reactions And Outrage
The video sparked multiple responses.
Some viewers believed she had to take action. One person said, “You might need an attorney.” Another one wrote, “Get your medical records from them asap.”
Others bashed the specialist for his alleged actions. One viewer asked, “What’s the point in getting a medical degree and license if you don’t want to use them to help people?” Another one added, “I am seeing a HUGE decline across healthcare.”
In a comment, Nnenna revealed that she had to ultimately cancel her surgery. She is getting a second opinion from another specialist and filed complaints. She is also planning on sharing the doctor’s name soon.
