Elon Musk’s latest post about Tesla’s self-driving technology has the internet in stitches after his ambitious vision for autonomous cars sparked a flood of hilarious memes and snarky comments online. It all began when a user posted a clip titled “FSD V14.1 Spends 20 Minutes Looking For Parking Spot at Costco”, claiming the video showed Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system endlessly circling a busy parking lot in search of a space.
“We did not once pass any empty available spots,” the poster wrote. “The only issue is we didn’t go deeper into the parking lot to search and we didn’t sit and wait for people who are unloading their carts. During the entire 20 minutes we searched for a spot, not once did a human driver or pedestrian look at the car and question what it was doing — we fit in the entire time very naturally.”
Elon Musk Sparks Wave Of Memes After Claiming Teslas Will Soon Drop You Off And Park Themselves
Musk reshared the video with his own optimistic spin, writing, “In the near future, your Tesla will drop you off at the store entrance and then go find a parking spot. When you’re ready to exit the store, just tap Summon on your phone and the car will come to you.” The billionaire’s comment quickly set off a wave of reactions and memes from amused (and skeptical) social media users who couldn’t resist poking fun at his futuristic claim.
One viral post summed up the collective reaction, sharing an image of dozens of Teslas parked identically outside a grocery store, each seemingly waiting in line for their turn, alongside a caption that read, “The reality of this.” From there, the jokes practically wrote themselves. One user quipped, “I can’t wait till Teslas drop you off at work and then Uber for the eight hours that you’re working and then come back and pick you up.”
Another user added some practicality to the mix, “If this becomes reality it should be trained to go to the furthest ends of the lot and park there since distance is not an issue. This will allow humans to park closer. A nice courtesy and also reduce chances of a human door dinging if parked close to store.”
Internet Erupts With Hilarious Reactions To Elon Musk’s Tesla Vision
Others imagined the chaos Musk’s prediction could bring. One X user foresaw a future parking nightmare, “People will summon while they’re in line at the checkout. Inevitably, the car will arrive early and block the entrance.” Someone else joined in with, “Can’t wait to see the 5-hour line of completely empty cars outside Costco.” But the internet’s favorite reaction came from someone who simply wrote, “But this is what husbands are for.”

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving feature remains one of Musk’s most ambitious (and controversial) projects, promising a future where cars can operate completely independently. But as the Costco video made the rounds, many users found it hard to take the idea seriously, at least for now.
