Texas Angry After Voter Suspense List Hits 1.2 Million: ‘This Seems Seriously Off’

Maybe you should see if you’re on the list

Over 1.2 million Texas voters are currently on the state’s “suspense list,” which could become a problem during the upcoming elections in November. The high number of people on the suspense list irritated some Texas voters, who criticized the Republican government over it.

As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the numbers make up more than 6% of all voters in the state. However, voters are only removed from Texas’ voter rolls after spending two general elections on the list, so they still have time to fix the situation. Residents are typically put on this list when the county does not know their address or believes they may have moved.

To check their status, voters should visit the state’s portal. In case they are on the suspense list, they have until October 5 to be removed from it, which can be done through another state website. A driver’s license or a Social Security number may be necessary to change the address.

Texas Voters React to Election Update

Texas residents reacted with anger upon seeing so many people on the suspense list when discussing the news on Reddit’s r/Texas. One user wrote: “Just checked, and my registration is suspended. I’ve voted in every primary and general election using my current address since 2024.”

Another one said: “Ok, so I just checked mine, and I’m valid, but my mailing address is wrong. I’ve never changed it in the last 7 years and have gotten voter mail. (…) Really feeling like something was run incorrectly (maybe on purpose) to cause a later problem? Maybe not, but this seems seriously off.”

Others were seemingly irritated by the problem: “I keep checking my registration to make sure it wasn’t dropped, but I never checked my address. My address was changed – just slightly, but it doesn’t match my driver’s license. I hate Texas.”

Another user put the blame on the local Republican government: “It’s what they always do, and no one demands an audit. No one holds them accountable. They are threatening to overturn the whole election if they deem it suspicious. Get out and be overwhelming in Texas. Fix your mistakes before and in time for the election, and don’t wait.”

With the elections coming up in November, the best course of action for every voter is to check their status as soon as possible.
