With all that’s going on lately, it’s sometimes easy to forget that just because someone is on your or the others’ side doesn’t automatically make them a decent person. An unfortunate homeless person in Texas learned this the hard way when some bullies broke into his tent and pepper-sprayed the interior. Living without a house is tough enough, but “seeing someone broke into your tent in the dark is scary,” the man remarked in his post on r/mildlyinfuriating. He was out and about charging his electronics when his tent was vandalized, but when he got back, the pepper spray was so bad that he was forced to sleep outside for the night.
Fortunately, he had a friend in town to stay the night at, but the fact that someone chose to bully his homeless tent at all is arguably more than just mildly infuriating. Whoever bullied him like this also sprayed what he recognized to be “Anti-MAGA graffiti” right outside his tent. “If your anti maga why are you [expletive] with homeless people?” he questioned, clearly bothered that the vandalism might have been politically motivated. “I have a full time job and just got a promotion and this is what I deal with.”
For context, the Texas homeless man says he works at an arcade but was recently promoted to a full-time position, which will hopefully improve his situation. That said, just about everyone in the man’s Reddit post was overwhelmingly supportive and sympathetic about what happened. “Infuriating that this happened and that you have no stable housing,” read a top comment. “This is what’s wrong with our society,” remarked a commenter. “Being against maga and vandalizing the homeless is just so antithetical,” exclaimed another. “Kicking folks when they are down in life is sad,” says a third.
One person questioned why someone working full-time in the US is even homeless in the first place. In a different post, the man explains that he’s a 21-year-old veteran looking for a fresh start in Houston, Texas, and hopes to work his way to an apartment with his current job. That all being said, many Redditors wish the best for the man’s future; things are rough enough in the economy as is.
