A Texas Black woman accused staff at a Church’s Texas Chicken restaurant of racism after she said they repeatedly told her the restaurant had no honey condiment. The situation escalated when another customer appeared to find a box filled with honey packets behind the counter. The woman argued that the incident was about more than honey, accusing the employees of treating her differently because she is Black.
The story was shared by TikTok user @aglassrealtor1. The video received several hundred thousand views and sparked a large discussion, with commenters divided over whether the incident showed racial discrimination or an argument that went too far.
The woman recorded herself confronting the restaurant staff and repeatedly accused them of being racist. She said employees had told her several times that they did not have honey. She also claimed this was not the first time she had received the same response, saying she had asked for honey during a visit about two weeks earlier and was given the same answer.
During this visit, however, another customer insisted that the restaurant did have honey. The customer then reached behind the counter and pulled out a box containing numerous honey packets. The Texas Black woman became increasingly upset, while the employees mostly remained silent. At one point, one of the workers appeared to record the confrontation on a phone.
The woman also accused the staff of being willing to give honey to Hispanic customers while refusing it to Black customers. The argument eventually escalated enough that police were called to the restaurant.
In the video’s comments, the Texas Black woman claimed the staff were “saving it for their people.” She also expressed frustration about experiencing what she viewed as racism from different groups, saying she had encountered discrimination from not only white people but also Hispanic people and others.
Texas Woman Sparks Heated Internet Debate Over Honey
The reaction was mixed. Many commenters defended the woman and argued that the issue was about the principle rather than the condiment itself. One commenter wrote, “It’s the principle. Why y’all never get that?” Another said, “All of y’all stood as a united front and said y’all don’t have honey. Yes, people, it is that serious. It’s more of the principle of things.”
Others thought the confrontation was excessive, with one viewer writing, “This is too much energy expressed over honey.” Another simply commented, “It’s never that deep.”
The discussion also turned into a debate about racism and tensions between racial groups. Some viewers urged the woman to report the restaurant to corporate, while others warned against generalizing about Hispanic people based on the actions of individual employees. One commenter who had made a broad statement later apologized and clarified that they had spoken out of anger.
At the end of the day, it was supposed to be a chicken run, not a full-blown honey investigation.
