A Texas dad who came online to vent that he works 60 hours a week just to afford his monthly child support payment is getting absolutely dragged by netizens who do not feel sorry for him one bit. The divorced father of five shared in a TikTok that approximately $1,521.65 is deducted from his pay every single month before he even sees his money.

“My baby mamas get paid before I do,” the man said in the video. “So in order for me to be able to do anything else — pay my rent, feed myself, put gas in my car — I have to work overtime.”

While child support can be a heavy burden for parents without sustainable income, netizens argued that he wasn’t paying nearly enough, especially for five children. In fact, some took it personally. “My dad got 10 kids, I don’t see him complaining,” one person wrote. “$1,521 for 5 [expletive] kids !? That’s not enough. My father paid $1,200 just for me,” another said. A third commented, “5 kids? That’s $300 per kid….that doesn’t even cover a week of daycare lol.” Someone else added, “Imagine how much money the full time parent spends.”

He Accused Netizens of Lacking Empathy

Following the backlash he received, the man posted a follow-up video, where he accused viewers, mostly “bitter baby mamas and fatherless women,” of lacking empathy and misunderstanding his point. He insisted he wasn’t asking for sympathy but was simply explaining his reality.

“I am not struggling. I am just tired like anybody else would be in my situation,” he said. He explained that child support in Texas is calculated based on a percentage of income and that once a separation happens, the payment is largely determined by legal formula. “There is absolutely nothing besides luck and persistence that will save you from being on child support. Not being a good person, not being the very best spouse that you possibly can be,” the father added.

The man stated that he had been married for 12 years and that his five children come from three different women. “I am suffering from the consequences of my own actions,” he said. “I just felt like talking about how much I was paying in child support and what I had to do in order to make all of that work. Cause that’s what TikTok is about. How I feel at the moment and what I feel like talking about.”

Still, that admission didn’t soften the backlash he continued to receive. One viewer bluntly wrote, “They should make it 2k,” while another asked, “I’m curious, how much money do you think it takes to raise a child? What is the appropriate amount in your eyes..per kid?”
