Texas Dog Owner Finds Poisoned Dog Treats in Backyard: ‘This is so Alarming’

I’m glad the dogs are okay

If you own pets, then you know the fear of someone wanting to actively hurt your dogs or cats just because they themselves don’t like animals. Sometimes, these acts go further than setting up perimeters in your yard or using special fertilizers that only animals can smell. In the case of one Texas dog owner, he found that his neighbor had been attempting to poison his dogs using treats stuffed with things like hooks and screws.

Over the last week, TikTok user wienerdogwifi has posted various images of what appear to be small, metal items wrapped in various types of fishing cheeses. Normally, you would hook these cheeses to a fishing hook and cast it into the water as bait. This time, they were big enough to fit in a dog’s mouth and honestly looked to be fatal for any small animal should it be swallowed.

During one of his last passes around the backyard, he discovered yet another handful of yellow cheese with pieces of screws inside. This time, he convened with a neighbor who was also attempting to find the culprit. In the description of that video, he explains that both he and his neighbor believe the suspect is a teenage neighbor. A few more videos after that both confirm the age of the attempted dog killer as well as the fact that he was arrested for his crime.

“The fact he’s 16!!!??? That is so alarming….”

You read that correctly: the person attempting to harm their neighbor’s dogs was only 16 years old. Immediately after the teenager was arrested, wienderdogwifi made a video explaining the situation to his followers in Texas and beyond, highlighting the real, everyday effects of animal cruelty. He managed to find the tainted food before his dogs could get to it. But what if he hadn’t?

Animal cruelty doesn’t just concern animals; it concerns the people directly affected by those animals and the community as a whole. I can only hope that the teenager learns their lesson from all this and finds a way to apologize for the potential damage they could have caused.
