A funeral held in Dallas, Texas, was disrupted early into the event after a grieving mother who was burying her son took issue with the outfit worn by a girl who had accompanied the carriage driver to the service.
The tense moment, which was captured on video and later shared on TikTok, shows the woman dressed in a white gown standing next to a horse-drawn carriage where the driver sat in formal attire. The man appeared to be properly dressed for the occasion, wearing a black suit and hat. The girl, on the other hand, who is believed to be either the driver’s employee or possibly his daughter, was dressed casually in a cap, pink hoodie, and blue jeans. In the clip, she was no longer sitting in the carriage but standing nearby.
After seeing how they had come dressed, the mother began yelling at the driver, demanding to know why he had brought someone dressed so casually to a funeral while she was burying her son. At one point, she even threw what appeared to be a bottle of water at the driver, but it landed inside the carriage.
In response, the driver calmly picked up the bottle from where it had landed and tossed it back in the woman’s direction, striking the top of her head.
That Moment Escalated the Situation
As soon as the bottle bounced off her head, the woman immediately tried to get physical with the driver, but another funeral attendee stepped in and held her back before things could go any further. Meanwhile, several people from the funeral party appeared to side with the woman and began confronting the driver as tensions continued to rise.
Eventually, the driver began moving the carriage away from the scene. Even then, the tension didn’t fully settle. In the video, another guest can be seen approaching the carriage and throwing something in the driver’s direction as he was leaving.
The clip has since made the rounds online, and netizens are now debating who was actually in the wrong.
Netizens Leaned Heavily Toward the Woman Being in the Wrong
Many people questioned whether the woman’s reaction was justified, especially since several people attending the funeral also appeared to be wearing casual clothing. “Half of her guest have t shirts and jeans on, so why is she mad at the girl on the carriage?? 😳,” one person commented.
Some also pointed out that the girl may not have even been attending the funeral itself, with one writing, “The girl in the carriage was dressed to deal with the horses. She wasn’t dressed for the funeral.”
Other viewers defended the driver’s reaction after the bottle was thrown. “So it ok for her to throw it at him but not ok for him to throw it back at her!? 👏,” one comment asked. Another wrote, “Even at funerals, black fatigue shows up.” A third added, “She and the rest went too far.”
As of now, it remains unclear whether anyone involved in the Texas funeral confrontation faced legal consequences following the incident.
