Texas Girl Breaks Down in Tears at Target After Harsh Money Lesson: ‘It Only Gets Worse’

She had to learn someday

Texas Girl Sobs At Target When She Realizes How Money Works 'And it Doesn't Get Better'

Let me tell you, being an adult is one of the worst things I’ve ever had to experience in my life. Not only do I have to work for my own food and living accommodations, but I’m also expected to take care of myself and stay healthy. I wish these were things I had a better grasp of when I was younger. One Texas girl was given the rudest awakening of a lifetime when she discovered just how it works to spend money on something. At least she’s getting the idea while she’s still young.

The above video was posted to the TikTok account @alisonshoemaker, a lifestyle, family, and fashion vlogger. Among the many things she posts are the daily adventures of her family, which also include her two daughters. In a recent video, she and her husband decided to take their daughter to the department store Target so she could spend some of her money on a dress. Of course, you and I understand that when you pay for something, all you get in return is your change, if there is any.

I get the feeling that the young girl was expecting to get a little more money back, because she immediately turned red and started to cry. Me too, girly. It probably didn’t make it better that she’s wearing a shirt that reads ‘Daddy’s Girl’ on it while she cries at her father. Commentators were quick to flood the comments with their own feelings of sympathy, with the top comment saying, “And it doesn’t get better,” accompanied by an image of someone consoling another person. Others were more focused on how much of themselves they saw in the young girl, with another person saying, “Wait this is literally me at 36 🤣.”

I have to admit, despite how sad the girl looks, I’m glad she’s understanding the value of money and what it actually means to spend it. From the look of things, she must have saved up quite a lot of money to be able to purchase a bag and a dress without the help of her parents. I’d like to think that she went home and thought long and hard about how she wants to spend her money next time. Maybe she’ll use this as an opportunity to learn about taxes, so she really isn’t surprised when she grows up and enters the working class.
