Easter Day 2025 fell on the stoner’s favorite holiday, 4/20, and a man in Texas had a devious plan to celebrate it for both weed lovers and Easter enjoyers. While plastic eggs are usually filled with candies or other goodies, Lufkin resident Avante Nicholson decided to fill his eggs with marijuana. He then hid them in parks across the city and posted on Facebook clues about how his followers and others could find these weed-filled collectibles.
Nicholson also stated that “whoever ‘shopped’ with him the day of the scavenger hunt would get hints to the locations of the eggs,” according to the Lufkin Police Department, per Local 12. In other words, if you couldn’t find the Easter eggs with the hints he gave on Facebook, you could do some ‘business’ with him to get a better idea of where to find the free marijuana. Officers put an end to the Texas man’s scavenger hunt by searching for and seizing all the eggs, which reportedly contained “over a quarter of an ounce of marijuana.”
Of course, the internet found the news hilarious and even somewhat “wholesome.” “When Easter lands on 4/20, this man had a calling and knew what to do,” said a top comment on Reddit. “Who needs the Easter Bunny? We have Buds Bunny,” quipped another. “That wascally weed rabbit,” remarked a reply. Plenty more ‘420 blaze’ puns and stoner jokes flooded the Reddit post covering Nicholson’s questionable scavenger hunt. Hundreds of users praised the Texas man for his efforts, and even if the authorities thwarted his endeavor, the festive way he tried to advertise his goods was certainly “top-notch marketing,” as several put it.
While placing drugs within parks where children would likely play and hang out is not acceptable, Nicholson’s idea was both creative and clever. It might have been illegal, but some would consider it better than the person who dyed their Easter eggs inside their toilet.
