A Texas movie theater took its film-watching experience to a new level this week when it screened the highly anticipated horror film, The Conjuring: Last Rites. Before fans even walked through the doors to take their seats in the theater, they were met with a spooky situation that would be enough to leave some asking for a refund and bolting for the door. Meanwhile, others lined up for the creepy adventure.

In a video from a San Antonio, Texas movie theater that was posted to TikTok, a woman is seen standing in front of a priest who appears to be saying a blessing to protect her. In addition, the woman and the other patrons were given holy water as another form of protection, as well as promotion for the film.

The TikToker also revealed that she was given a movie poster and even showed a clip of herself holding a movie replica of the Annabelle doll. It seems that the movie theater was ready to kick off spooky season and is doing it with an event that is sure to have fans buzzing, whether good or bad.

While some horror movie enthusiasts loved the idea and believed it added to the scary atmosphere of watching the film, others weren’t convinced.

“People don’t realise that horror [movies] are literally portals and [a] gateway that allow evil entities to pass through. The conjuring is next lvl and I agree that we should pray prior to watching it….its not fake yall demons are real the devil is lurking in the darkness and in your fear,” one person commented.

“If I have to get blessed & need holy water I am not going,” a second person stated. “Their marketing is amazing,” revealed another. “I love horror movies and the Conjuring series but idk this one is giving me a bad feeling. If they’re blessing people before watching it eerrrrr ima take it as a sign,” a fourth person agreed.

However, the original poster cleared a few things up, revealing that there was no reason to fear this installment of the franchise and more than the previous films in the series.

“If you’ve seen all the others you’ll be good! I liked it, but I’m also a fan of all The Conjuring series. The priest being there was for the early screen & just promo in general!” she said.

It appears that fans may have gotten more than they bargained for when they decided to watch an advanced screening of the new Conjuring film. Whether you consider it a good promotion or a terrifying experience, the Texas movie theater definitely has people talking.
