In this economy, a lot of people are scrambling just to land a job, anything to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. But that wasn’t the case for one woman who recently showed up on Caleb Hammer’s podcast in Texas. For those who don’t know, Caleb runs a show where he gives financial advice to people who usually have some pretty wild backstories. Most podcast guests end up there because of questionable or unusual decisions that led to their current situation. This woman? She said she couldn’t take on a full-time job because of her dog.
No joke, her dog has such severe separation anxiety that it chews through doors when she’s out of sight. Things were apparently bad enough that she talked to her therapist, who called her “unemployable” and even told her she shouldn’t have a direct boss.
She requested to appear on the Texas podcast, hoping Caleb could help her figure something out. His response? Things are not looking great. Caleb pointed out that the job market is already tough, with lots of skilled and experienced people being laid off and quickly grabbing up the available remote jobs. According to him, if she wants to survive, she’s going to need to take an in-person job.
The Texas podcast guest still insisted that she couldn’t leave her dog alone, but Caleb said she might have to face a hard truth. If she doesn’t make a choice soon, she and the dog might both end up in a worse situation. At this rate, surrendering the dog could be the only way forward.
Well, Caleb wasn’t the only one exasperated by this podcast guest. Plenty of internet users were just as baffled. One Redditor simply said, “This woman is doomed.” Another mentioned they had a sister in a similar situation, writing, “She DOES work and pays for dog daycare but literally won’t meet me (or anyone) for lunch for 2 hours without needing to find a sitter. F***ing weird.”
Some commenters suggested she really needs to start training the dog and help it get used to being alone instead of revolving her life around it. Others joked that maybe it was the woman who had separation anxiety. One user wrote, “Social parasites. I have crippling anxiety and I still have to pop a clonazepam and go to work because I have responsibilities. I can’t just say ‘my therapist says no one should be managing me’ for whatever BS reason she has.”
