Texas Congressman Chip Roy is renewing calls for a pause on immigration following a federal indictment tied to a U visa fraud scheme, arguing the case highlights deeper issues within the system. The clip, shared on X, quickly gained traction online.

🚨 JUST IN: Legislation is being pushed nationwide to pause nearly ALL IMMIGRATION into America

Our nation is overrun with foreigners, Muslims, fraudsters and people who want to CONQUER America

Pass the PAUSE Act! 🇺🇸

During the segment, Roy pointed to the case as an example of abuse within the U visa system, where victims of certain crimes can apply for immigration status.

“We have 51.5 million people in the US who are foreign-born — that’s about 16%. That’s the highest we’ve had in our country in our history,” he said. “Maybe we should pause and reform our system and actually make it work so that we can make sure people are coming here who want to blend in and become part of the melting pot.”

The 10 individuals were indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for allegedly staging armed robberies at convenience stores to allow clerks to falsely claim victimhood on U visa applications. All 10 were previously charged in March 2026. Two have since been taken into immigration custody, and each faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

What People Are Saying Online

The video sparked reactions online. Many backed Roy’s position, with one commenter calling the measure “essential to save the future of America.” Others went further. One responded simply: “Pause? How about end!” Another called for “no immigration, no asylum, no refugees for at least 50 years minimum,” while a skeptical voice questioned the bill’s chances, writing: “They won’t even pass the SAVE Act. I doubt the PAUSE Act will even go up for a vote.”

Not all agreed. One user called Roy’s framing “a very extreme take,” while another argued that “blocking immigration is not a solution” and that “America was built on diversity, not paranoia.”
The gap between Roy’s proposal and his base’s demands shows how far the debate has shifted, even among those who agree reform is needed.
