Gas prices have indeed hurt almost all US citizens. Even someone you’d expect to live more comfortably compared to the usual American, such as a senator from Texas, has taken to social media to rant about the Trump administration, with his tirade being triggered by the $150 gas he spent just to fill up his pickup truck. The rant has since gone viral.
Roland Gutierrez is the Texas Senator in question, and back over the weekend, he went for a ride on his pickup truck with a trailer in tow, supposedly for a project. Gutierrez stopped at Granbury for gas and began ranting about the prices. However, the senator wanted to steer the discussion into the bigger picture, saying, “Over two weeks, we’ve lost 13 soldiers, mostly by the incompetence of Pete Hegseth. The pain that we’re seeing at the pump is nothing.”
“It’s nothing compared to that loss of life for this ridiculous war with no objective from Trump, ’cause he’s a idiot,” fumed Gutierrez. He went on to draw attention to the hundreds of school girls who died in the US bombing, “And all for what? For a distraction? So we don’t have to be talking about the Epstein Files?… These people are getting rich while the rest of us are getting screwed over,” according to the senator.
For those who can understand Spanish, Gutierrez’s rant was certainly a lot more impactful, as he basically hurled some scathing insults at Trump’s mother and justifies it by saying, “A lot of Americans are in pain,” before finishing his $150 gas fill-up. It’s worth noting that even former Trump supporters are becoming disillusioned, with some even ripping off their Trump 2024 stickers after gas prices soared.
People Online Also Feel the Pain
Being a Democrat senator, Gutierrez definitely drew some criticisms against his stance as well, with certain commenters on X even blaming him for buying a pickup truck. “Then why did he buy that 30+ gallon monster pickup? At $4.50 a gallon, he’s probably purchasing diesel. If not, he’s getting screwed by the dealer. Reg gas is $3.39 down the street right now. That’s $100. I could rip every one of his arguments to pieces. He exaggerates every one,” says a commenter.”
Others, however, focused more on the bigger picture, just as the Texas Senator intended, with certain TikTok commenters echoing Gutierrez’s sentiment, and even saying, “I’m sick of this with Trump” and another claiming, “Impeach trump now!!!” as some kind of online call to action. Meanwhile, fuel prices continue to surge as the US/Israel offensive against Iran continues to rise past boiling point.
