Hating loud music isn’t exactly an uncommon complaint. Plenty of people get annoyed when others crank the volume without any regard for those around them. But it’s one thing to be irritated by a noisy neighbor late at night, and another thing entirely to march into a business and destroy a DJ’s equipment because you think the music is too loud. Yet that’s exactly what reportedly happened in Houston, Texas.

A video shared on Reddit shows a heated confrontation between two women. The woman in the gray shirt, frustrated by the volume, can be seen interfering with the DJ’s setup. According to witnesses, she even damaged part of the DJ’s mixer after repeatedly tampering with the controls. Her complaint about the noise might have been understandable, but there was one major problem: she was at a restaurant that was hosting a live event with a DJ specifically there to liven up the atmosphere.

Instead of leaving or asking staff to turn it down, she decided to take matters into her own hands. The video shows the Texas woman trying several times to stop the music while the DJ calmly tells her to stop and fixes the settings she had just messed up. Other diners looked on in confusion, questioning what exactly was happening.

The woman then claimed there was a salon next door, implying she might have been there before wandering into the event space. She complained that it was Saturday and insisted that “people should keep it down,” despite the fact that the music was part of a scheduled event. When the organizer refused to lower the volume, her frustration boiled over, and she angrily yanked one of the cables, disrupting the DJ’s equipment.

Her outburst didn’t go unanswered. Another woman, who appeared to be part of the event’s organizing team, followed her outside and confronted her. The second woman recorded the entire interaction while the so-called “Texas Karen” was seen on her phone, possibly calling her attorney. The confrontation then escalated into an argument about whether it was legal to record her without her consent, with the camerawoman reminding her that they were in a public space and that there was no expectation of privacy.

Things escalated further when the police were called, although it remains unclear whether any official action was taken. Regardless, Redditors and other internet users largely sided with the organizers, criticizing the Texas woman’s behavior as overly entitled. One user said, “I don’t get it. She doesn’t like the music the restaurant is playing. She can just leave.”
