A couple from Texas set out for a cozy breakfast date one morning, only to find themselves at the center of some internet drama. The duo was filming themselves at breakfast in Louisiana and talking about the road trip they were currently on when their waitress interrupted them and used a term of endearment while talking to the man, whose name is Max. His girlfriend quickly noticed and had to scold the server.
In the TikTok video, the Texas duo were seen cozied up together in a booth as they shot their video. The pair had plates of delicious-looking waffles in front of them as they enjoyed their breakfast. Then a server, who was off camera, can be heard asking them if they needed anything else, which triggered the interaction and left many on the internet scratching their heads.
“You need anything else, baby?” the server says with an obvious southern accent. “Sorry. His name is Max,” the girlfriend quickly corrected the waitress. “I’m sorry. It’s just a southern hospitality thing,” the server replied. “If I call somebody baby, I do not want your man,” she added as Max began to laugh awkwardly. “I hope so,” the girlfriend said. “Sorry about that,” Max interjected.
Texas Couple Sparks Internet Fury With Waitress Confrontation
“When the waitress calls me ‘baby’ in front of Latina GF,” the caption of the video reads. The video instantly blew up, garnering over 34 million views in less than a week after it was posted. The clip also received over 4 million likes and more than 29K comments.
In those comments, the TikTok community wasn’t shy about sharing their thoughts on the interaction. “When southern hospitality meets I’m insecure in my relationship…….The embarrassment,” one person said in the comment section. “I heard her accent and immediately knew she meant nothing by it. Poor lady,” another wrote. “This was a hard watch,” a third comment read. “He even apologized for her. She definitely embarrassed him,” another social media user declared.
However, despite the impression the video left, there was no bad blood between the couple and the waitress. In fact, they made a follow-up video, where they spoofed the original clip. Although, the second time around the waitress and girlfriend swapped spots.
Whether it was all an elaborate joke, or the first video was genuine, the internet certainly had plenty to say about the Texas couple and their relationship after they posted the now-viral video.
