Texas Woman Claims Racism After Overstaying Her Welcome at Starbucks, Ending in Police Being Called

A Texas woman was hanging out at her local Starbucks, utilizing their Wi-Fi without buying anything. A worker finally called her out and told her to leave. She quickly turned the tables and called racism, which ended in police being called to the scene.

TikToker @karens.exposed0 recorded what happened at her local Starbucks in Texas. In an alleged ragebait moment, she sat at her local Starbucks for several hours, finishing work. But the Starbucks manager wasn’t going to have that, especially knowing this customer didn’t purchase anything. She records the manager cleaning, stating, “You’re bothering me because I’m black. I do my work here every single day. I’ve been here for one hour and I can order something whenever I want.”

The manager tells this TikToker, “I’m sorry you feel that way. It’s a policy.” She tries to explain to her that if she wants to continue sitting there, she needs to purchase something. Eventually, the manager gets fed up with the back-and-forth and tells her she’s “criminally trespassing.” After that, police were called.

In an update post, @karens.exposed0 shows police parked outside Starbucks after being called to the scene to ask her to leave. She tries to explain to her audience that she’s a reoccurring customer who sits at that Starbucks almost every day. According to her, she was going to order a drink but didn’t “get the opportunity” to do so before police arrived. She explains that the manager told police she was “causing a disturbance and trespassing” on their property even though she doesn’t believe that’s what happened.

The video immediately sparked reactions from commenters, many explaining to this TikToker that the manager wasn’t wrong about the policy. One commenter stated, “Starbucks changed their policy years ago. To sit in or dine in, charge your phones computers and tablets, use their Wi-Fi and restrooms are for paying customers only.” Another commenter added, “Because Starbucks is private property, staying after a manager or employee has asked you to leave legally constitutes trespassing.”

Others agreed that nobody should utilize a coffee shop’s services without making a purchase. One commenter simply pointed out: “Library free. Coffee shop not free. Adapt, improvise and overcome.” Another commenter stated, “The audacity of not buying anything at a restaurant but sitting there for hours.” Commenters continue to share their reactions and opinions about how the situation was handled on her post.
