Play Some Football – Madden
There is no more time-honored tradition on Thanksgiving than watching and playing football with friends and family. If you don’t have either of those or are lazy like me, never fear, video games are here – just don’t play as the Lions on Thanksgiving if you want to win.
Indians and Settlers – Assassins Creed 3
The closest you may ever get to Pilgrims and Indians, this one may be a stretch but the historical ambiance of Assassin’s Creed 3 certainly rings of Thanksgiving. Plus white men end up massacring Indians…so that’s as authentic as you can get.
Franklin – Animal Crossing
Anyone who’s played Animal Crossing knows Franklin, as the Turkey has appeared during Harvest Festival in almost every game except for Animal Forest, Animal Forest + and Wild World. Franklin’s transformation from skittish and paranoid – of being cooked – in the first game to taking a prominent role during the festival, wearing a chef’s hat and overalls.
Making Dinner – Cooking Mama Unauthorized PETA edition
Far from the Cooking Mama DS fans have come to known Cooking MaMa: Unauthorized PETA Edition is an online flash game developed by PETA, in their typical over the top fashion. A surprisingly entertaining game, for a company not known for creating games, this Cooking MaMa game has players massacring a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.
Killer Turkeys – South Park 64
South Park 64 has one of the most ridiculous premises, coupled with just as ridiculous gameplay mechanics. The town has been taken over by killer turkeys and only the kids of South Park can stop them, doing so with Snowballs (don’t eat the yellow snow), Cow launchers, Terrance and Phillip Dolls and many other weird weapons.
Turkey – Eggomania
The only game (at least that I am aware of) to feature a Turkey as the main character, Eggomania was released in 1982 by US Games for the Atari 2600. The game’s sole objective is to catch eggs that the turkey is hatching without getting any hit the ground and break.
Turkey Head – Little Big Planet
Little Big Planet is well known for it’s fun and wacky customization, for characters and levels alike. One of those customizations includes sporting a fully roasted turkey on Sackboy’s head, using it as a hat rather than dinner.
MoonKin – World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is one of the most popular games of all time and features an array of unique humanoid creatures, including turkeys. Mookin are large, flightless, sapient bird-like humanoids native to the night elf areas in northern Kalimdor, but don’t think they are as easy to kill as a regular turkey as Moonkin can put up quite a fight.
Turkeys – Turkey Hunting Us bar game
While your parents might have hounded you relentlessly to turn off that Xbox and go outside, they too are guilty of loving video games. One of the many forms of bar shooting arcade games, Turkey Hunting Us is fun for the whole family, and maybe it’s the bonding experience you and dear old dad direly need.
Regardless of what you play, we here at the Nerd Stash wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
