Persona fans have been eating these last few years with release after release after release. More recently, we saw the third main installment completely reimagined with new visuals in Persona 3 Reloaded. Not only that, but this month, we have Persona 5: The Phantom X coming to mobile and PC. Well, it looks like our friends over at Atlus aren’t thinking of slowing down one bit, especially with the announcement of Persona 4 Revival.
This game is a complete remake of Persona 4, featuring all-new visuals. Like Persona 3 Reloaded, it will likely include entirely new narratives and gameplay features exclusive to this version of Persona 4. I was thrilled when I saw the protagonist, Yu, on screen, confirming the long-rumored speculation. However, I was even more surprised when the teaser trailer ended and transitioned to the next topic.
The Persona franchise is renowned for its dark themes, and the fourth installment is no exception. In this game, the main protagonists, who are students, set out to uncover the reasons behind a series of suicides occurring in their town. Through the power of friendship and with the aid of mysterious beings known as Personas, these students navigate a realm called the Midnight Channel to battle demons.
The teaser trailer for Persona 4 Revival showcased popular in-game locations, including a Yasogami High School classroom and a street within Okina City. There is even a short scene of Yu walking through this very street, showing off what players can expect to experience once they have it in their hands.
Currently, there is no official release date for Persona 4 Revival, though it can be wishlisted for Xbox and PC. While I’d like to think it will also be available for the PlayStation 5, we will have to wait until the release date gets closer to confirm.
