Recently, the newest class for Diablo Immortal, the Blood Knight, has been added to the game. While this is a terrific addition to the spin-off game, Diablo 4 players are still waiting for more classes. Although no information on extra classes has been announced, many fans are holding out hope for an announcement soon. Currently, Blizzard has not even announced what classes could potentially join the roster. However, the Blood Knight itself may be the perfect choice for Diablo 4 for a variety of reasons. Though the Blood Knight is still new to the series overall, it would make a great addition to Diablo 4. If the class does well in Diablo Immortal, it seems likely that it will come to Diablo 4.
What Is the Blood Knight?
The Blood Knight is the first class to join the Diablo series since the Crusader was added in 2014. The class functions as a melee hybrid class that uses both powerful martial attacks and blood magic. In a way, the class is akin to a bloody version of the Crusader or Paladin from previous games. The Blood Knight class can also use its powerful vampiric magic to heal or enhance attacks. Overall, this playstyle is pretty unique to the game so far and so, isn’t comparable to any other class. Although many fans regard Diablo Immortal as the worst game in the series, the Blood Knight seems like a great addition. In the end, it’s what makes the Blood Knight unique that would make it a great addition to Diablo 4.
The Blood Knight Would Fill a Mechanical Niche in Diablo 4
The Blood Knight fills an interesting niche that doesn’t exist in Diablo 4 yet. So far, there isn’t a true hybrid martial melee class in the game yet. This niche focuses on a class that uses both martial weapons and powerful magic spells in the game. Although the Druid is similar to this archetype, it doesn’t focus on the exact style of martial weapons that is the signature of the niche. Currently, there is no equivalent character to the Crusader or Paladin in Diablo 4. In a way, this locks out a specific gameplay style that many have enjoyed in the past. Diablo 3 also suffered from a similar problem until the addition of the Crusader as DLC later in the game’s lifetime.
Other Classes May Be Good Additions to Diablo 4 as Well
Although the Blood Knight is a perfect potential addition to Diablo 4, it isn’t the only class that fits. As mentioned previously, the Crusader and Paladin are two other classes that would be great for this niche. Both have been rather popular in past games, and neither would be a bad choice. On top of this, although they are more dexterity-based. Diablo 3’s Monk may fill a similar niche as well. Any of these three would be a great choice, especially with Diablo 4‘s lack of holy magic characters. However, out of all the choices, the Blood Knight still may be the best fit. This is due to the thematic similarities between it and the Necromancer, which is already a class in Diablo 4. Unless Blizzard is looking for a stark contrast to their current Diablo 4 classes, then the Blood Knight may be an easier class to add.
In the end, although the Blood Knight would be a great fit for Diablo 4, it may be a bit too new to the series to add. Plenty of other classes, such as the Paladin, Monk, and Demon Hunter should be added first. In a title that only includes archetypes from previous entries, it may be better to stick with classes from older Diablo games. With that being said, the Blood Knight would still be a perfect fit when looking at the class niches, so this doesn’t mean the class should never be added to the game. Instead, maybe it should come in as a second or third addition after other classic classes make their reappearance. If it arrives, it should be an extremely unique class to the mainline series overall.
