The Bold and the Beautiful characters Thomas Forrester and Paris Buckingham are the show’s newest couple. In the past, the soap opera has toyed with the possibility of pairing the two. Yet, their interactions never went anywhere. But in a shocking turn of events, the writers have decided to pursue a romance storyline between the characters.
Earlier this week, Thomas and his son Douglas Forrester returned after a three-month stay in France. Thomas’ ex-girlfriend Hope Logan was ecstatic to see them, however, her joy was quickly diminished. Hope was devastated to learn of his engagement to Paris.
The engagement not only shocked Hope, but also viewers. While fans are processing how they feel about the new couple, Matthew Atkinson is happy with the storyline.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, the actor revealed his reaction upon learning of his character’s new love interest.
I think that I was pleasantly surprised because there was sort of this moment int he past where Thomas and Paris came together and there was this fun little flirtation, but it sort of was dispelled within, I don’t know, a week or two. And so I didn’t get to work with [Diamond White, Paris] very much. I think that because of that, I was like, ‘Oh, this is cool.’
Atkinson went on to say he’s excited to be working with co-star Diamond White. He also says adding new characters into his storyline makes it “refreshing and fun.”
The Bold and the Beautiful Fans Know Thomas and Paris Won’t Last
While Atkinson is happy about Thomas and Paris as a couple, some fans aren’t thrilled. Given the show’s predictability, many viewers already know how it’ll probably end.
On a Soap Central forum, The Bold and the Beautiful fans believed the couple is headed for heartbreak.
One user suspected Paris is just an obstacle to reunite Thope:
The writing team recognizes the popularity of Hope and Thomas…and the actors have a long-term commitment to the show…This is their strategy for building angst. Thomas and Paris will not marry.
Another commenter hates what they’re doing to Paris:
So Paris and Thomas are engaged and it has nothing to do with Paris. It’s a shame what they have done to that character. Paris deserves better than to be a pit stop in the Thope storyline.
However, one fan hoped the writers gave the couple a chance:
I’m wanting to see how they develop. I like the fact they were friends first.
The upcoming storyline will have Hope interfering in the couple’s relationship. Hope already pleaded with Thomas to give her a second chance, but he refused. Thomas wants marriage, something Hope isn’t ready for, but Paris is.
As the couple’s wedding day approaches, Hope will pull out all the stops to win back Thomas. Will Hope and Thomas reunite? Or will Thomas and Paris tie the knot?
The Bold and the Beautiful fans will have to watch the drama unfold with this story.
