After canceling several of its original shows, the CW network gives us our first look at the upcoming new shows Gotham Knights, The Winchesters, and Walker: Independence. New posters for each of the shows have been released via social media. In addition, TV Line reports that trailers have been released for the latter two shows. These new shows are filling several slots created by many canceled shows on the CW. The network has let go of Charmed, Legacies, Naomi, The 4400, Dynasty, Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Roswell, New Mexico. And just today, The CW announced that Riverdale would conclude with its seventh season. However, these new shows are something to look forward to on the network.

The Winchesters is a prequel to the hit series Supernatural. That show ran for fifteen seasons and followed brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they hunted supernatural beings, such as ghosts, monsters, and demons. The prequel series will tell the story of their parents, John (Drake Rodger) and Mary (Meg Donnely), and how they met and “put it all on the line to not only save their love but the entire world.” Jensen Ackles will reprise his role as Dean from the original series as a narrator.

Another prequel show, Walker: Independence, will be part of the CW’s Walker franchise, and it will take place more than a century before Walker. Set in the late 1800s, the show stars Katherine McNamara as Abby Walker, an affluent Bostonian out for revenge after her husband’s murder. She will cross paths with Hoyt Rawlins (Matt Barr), a lovable rogue looking for purpose. Their journey will lead them to Independence, Texas, where its residents run from the past and chase their dreams. The pair will struggle with a changing world and living in a town where nothing is as it seems.

While no trailer has been released for Gotham Knights, the CW has treated us to the first image, allowing our first look at the cast. The network has also given a full description of the plot, which is as follows:
“Batman is dead, and a powder keg has ignited Gotham City without the Dark Knight to protect it. In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan, “De Son Vivant”) is framed for killing the Caped Crusader, along with the children of some of Batman’s enemies: Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan, “Days of Our Lives”), an unpredictable fighter and skilled thief who was born in Arkham Asylum and abandoned by her father, Harper Row (Fallon Smythe, “grown-ish”), a streetwise and acerbic engineer who can fix anything, and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara, “The Virgin of Highland Park”), a clever transgender teen who is tired of being polite and agreeable. With the charismatic and hard-charging District Attorney Harvey Dent (Misha Collins, “Supernatural”) and the GCPD hot on their trail, Turner will rely on allies including his best friend and formidable coder Stephanie Brown (Anna Lore, “All American”), and unlikely Batman sidekick Carrie Kelley (Navia Robinson, “Raven’s Home”). But our Knights will soon learn there is a larger, more nefarious force at work within Gotham City. This team of mismatched fugitives must band together to become its next generation of saviors known as the GOTHAM KNIGHTS.”
When to Expect These New Shows on The CW
