It was 2016 when we got news of a The Division movie in the works. It was inspired by the Ubisoft game that had some great reviews at the time. Then, we got The Division 2, but no news about the movie yet. Now, there are more The Division projects on the horizon, but the movie seems to be far away. It has been confirmed that the movie isn’t canceled yet, but it isn’t close to releasing either. While the reasons are more than understandable, it is still sad to hear that The Division movie inspired by the game might not happen soon.
The Division Movie adaptation has been delayed until further notice
The reasons behind the delay in the movie are more than understandable. According to reports, producers of the project felt the theme of the movie wasn’t too good, according to recent world events. Due to the pandemic, The Division movie would touch upon the same topics as the game. As we know, in the game there is a situation where the city is in ruins and in lockdown. These topics didn’t seem right for the producers right now, given how sensitive the topic has become. We all know how much the world has suffered due to the pandemic. It is only fair to delay the project until things calm down.

While the cast and many others were ready for the project, the movie has gone to the back burner now. While the movie sounded promising at the time, it is a wise choice to put it on pause for the moment. Now, we hope that the movie adaptation of The Division game turns out to be good. The last Ubisoft game that got an adaptation was Assassin’s Creed, and while the cast was great, fans didn’t like it. We have yet to find a good movie based on a video game, but if the movie happens, we hope it can do justice to the game.
